I'm sure everybody's noticed all the new hotel construction going on or soon to be started. Here's a list off the top of my head that can probably be added to since I'm sure I've missed some:

1) Drury Inn across from the US Space and Rocket Center ... fairly large 9-10 stories
2) Marriott AC downtown ... 6 story
3) Hampton Inn downtown across Monroe from the VBC (not sure about this one ... just read it somewhere).
4) Home2Suites (or some similar name), at the 565/Wall Triana interchange
5) Margaritaville, Town Madison
6) Hotel next to Tenders, Madison Blvd/Hughes area
7) New one near downtown Madison on Sullivan Street
8) Marriott of some flavor in MidCity
9) Hyatt Place in Bridge Street
10) One other in Bridge Steet too I think
11) Another as yet unnamed in Town Madison
12) One ready to open at Redstone Gateway
13) Unnamed being built in Constellation at 565/Parkway
14) Hilton Curio, 100 rooms downtown on Jefferson St.

Others?

Seems like a big addition to the hotel availability in the area ... just guessing, those must be close to 2000 additional rooms.

In general, there is a huge volume of construction in the metro ... I'd say unprecedented (other large buildings include the new federal courthouse to be started at some point, new downtown Redstone Federal Credit Union, new city hall complex.

But no high rises that I know of (high rise being >15 stories is the generally accepted definition, I think).

It's my first time hearing about a hotel being built in Constellation. I think there is still no hotel committed in Constellation.

There seems to be a 2nd hotel in preparation right behind AC hotel in downtown. The name is still unannounced.

Townplace Suite Marriott hotel in Gateway is already open, and there was one more hotel in the master plan in my memory, but the name has not yet been announced. Not sure if they scrapped the plan.

I haven't heard about one more unnamed hotel coming to Town Madison. Home2suite is the one that is in construction within Town Madison (west side).

While googling, I found an interesting story about constellation. Constellation: The Untold Story of Huntsville

According to the website, his plan includes two hotels and one destination retail store.

Somebody posted on here, I think, that the building currently under construction in Constellation is a hotel. Other than that, I don't know. But something is being built there, or at least prepped for.

Breland mentioned a few days ago, and it may have been in the Town Madison update that the Edgewater neighborhood received, that another hotel was planned. It also could have been in an article about the baseball stadium. Seems like he hinted that it would be lower end (not a dump, but not a 5 star either).

So the hotel in Redstone Gateway is a Marriott. Interesting.

Someone else posted here a couple of months ago that a Hampton Inn and Suites would be built on the parking garage across from the VBC. I have seen nothing else about it though.

Regardless, there is a lot of hotel construction going on right now or soon to be started.

The second hotel is a 13 story Residence Inn except it’s not right behind AC Hotel. It will replace the swimming pool building. Behind AC Hotel is the food hall and parking garage.

13 stories? Where did you see that? That's unheard of around here, where three stories is called a tower (I'm looking at you Huntsville Hospital in Athens...)

It was a rendering in the first articles of CityCentre that talked about all the phases a few years ago.

That's the one I meant when I said "across from the VBC". I just haven't seen any details on it, like the size. And it may be in a different place than I said. Otherwise, I was spot on

Haha. Yeah, you're right about "tower". 13 is an unusual number, being unlucky to many. I guess it'll be numbered 14 and skip 13.

But it would be a good addition. I read somewhere that McClain is planning a 17 story building (offices I think) in Constellation. He said it could the the tallest building in Huntsville, which it would be at least for a while. I think he was quoted when the current construction got started a few months ago.
