Hubby and I will be flying in to attend Parent Weekend at UAH in late October.
Other than the Space Center - what are some things to see/do? We will have a car and several half days to explore.

I'd love some ideas of things to see, maybe an afternoon drive somewhere to see the fall colors.

I recommend visiting downtown, just to see Big Spring Park and the Duck Pond. However, there may be an exhibition of giant lighted bunnies downtown to make it extra special (disclosure - I'm volunteering at the event):

"Intrude will be on display to the public Friday, October 19th through the 28th in Big Spring Park..."

You may consider visiting the Art Museum, Children's Museum, and Constitution Hall Village. There are several good restaurants and coffee shops, as well as an old hardware store.

If you want to see the topography, flora (and possibly Fall colors), and fauna of the area, visit Monte Sano State Park or the Green Mountain Nature Trail for a little hike.

The Botanical Garden is near UAH / ASRC and is worth a visit - they also have a good restaurant for lunch.

Definitely go to the Art Museum. They will have a Tiffany Glass display from Oct 21 - sometime in January. The Botanical Garden is also very nice.

AUHsv's post has all the good stuff.

Never been there, but I hear the Burritt museum is pretty interesting, and they host music events. https://burrittonthemountain.com/

Go to the drive through animal park and feed and pet the animals-Buffalo, giraffe, goats, deer, and others. They have a reptile house but you can't feed the snakes, but you can feed the Galapagos turtles.

Likewise a drive to Guntersville in October could be a nice relaxing thing to do.

There's also some Charger hockey for you to watch. Double up the walk around downtown and a dinner with a hockey match to conclude a great night out.

Take Hwy 72 East towards Scottsboro. Turn left into Paintrock Valley and just enjoy the drive. This is about as pretty as it gets and the amount of roads and options is huge.
