There's alligators in north Huntsville.


My son and I saw one while canoeing that big lake off Zeirdt Road (Lady Ann-something or other) years ago. It was a small one about 4' or so.


There used to be a big alligator nest along the creek just south and west of the MSFC 4755 building on Marshall Space Flight Center. I hiked back there during lunch one day back in the mid-90's - during the summer, ticks abounded.


Back in the early 90's, a 13' alligator (IRC) was killed on a highway somewhere near Scottsboro. They figured it had been in one of those catfish farm ponds.


Having said all that, unless you're feeding them on a regular basis, the chance of you getting hurt by a N. AL alligator is somewhere between getting hit by lightning and winning the lottery - on the same day
