I noticed the old Hardees building at Haysland Square was finally being torn down yesterday. Does anyone know what plans are in work for that area?

These are just hopeful thoughts, but they should tear down that whole side of Haysland and rebuild it facing Weatherly. Since the south side is pretty much fully leased (and I know it's not "Haysland"), I don't expect it to happen on that side any time soon, but I think eventually that intersection will look like Bob Wallace/Parkway.

Default Card from Jennie Robinson in the Mail

Got a bulk mail card from Jennie Robinson in the Mail saying that the Hays family has control again of the Haysland Square property and that a redevelopment announcement will be coming soon. It mentioned retail, office space, and residential space in the redevelopment. Does anyone know what is in the plans?

It would probably be business suicide to try to start something in that area with the road construction. Now that it's almost finished, things should pick up there a bit.

I sure did like the Sears Surplus Store. Lots of major bargains were had by all.

Also, back in the day, the D'livery Stable was the upscale pizza place in town.
The whole Haysland Sq strip was hoppin.

It was a nostalgic place for me. When we first moved to Alabama in the 70s we had to stay in the Queens Motel for a week before our house was ready and my sister and I would walk over to Big K and there was a little diner there, etc. First place I ever went to in Huntsville. That's where I ran into the language barrier. I asked what kind of soda they had and the woman said huh? and I asked again and she said huh? And I said, you know.. coke, root beer, orange, 7up... and she said... Oh, you mean what kind of coke do we have and I said.. no.. I don't want coke. I want root beer. So she brought me an ice cream soda made with root beer.

I do hope they revitalize the place.

Oh, and my youngest brother got fired from that particular Hardees 6 times. Why they kept hiring him back I'll never know.

that hardee's is nostalgic for me too haha. both my brother and sister worked there in high school (late '90s / early '00s respectively). it's also the reason to this day I HATE fried chicken... they brought soooo much of it home every week
