Are there that many (any??) gated communities in Huntsville? (I think the Ledges is gated but I don't think there are condos or town homes up there.)

Do you have some in mind? Go ahead and list them and the forum can comment on the neighborhoods.

What about the gated neighborhood on Airport Rd. before crossing into Jones Valley. The white houses sardined on the hill.

Hassan- looking for rent or buy? There are more "gated" options in Madison city (and a few just outside Madison city limits in the county, but still close) they tried harder to bank on BRAC temporary housing (being closer to arsenal). There are also "no-gate" condo communities. are you dead-on set on "gated"?

Google street view makes it look like either the gates aren't there, or they are opened (or they just happened to be open when these photos were taken):

I'll be damned, I could've sworn I'd seen a gate there (I occasionally drive that way, but last time I paid attention to the "gate" was probably 2 yrs ago). But you can see where the asphalt changes colors..

Oh yeah, their are some townhomes in the Ledges...they are beautiful, very well built, chock FULL of amenities. They come with a hefty pricetag...last townhouse I was in up there was in the high $700's. Big townhomes, 3000+ square feet, yearly fee which includes lawn maintenance (I think about $1800-$2000). There are some up there that would sell in the $400's, but you are going to pay upwards of $200 a square foot on average there.
There are also from time to time some condos that come up in Cedarhurst (at Drake and Whitesburg) and that area is gated. Those are a bit more reasonable..usually mid $200's and UP. Cedarhurst is very, very desirable.

The ones you are thinking about Charles is Churchill Place. Its not gated. They look like they are going to slide off into Airport to me. I would hate having to park there every day.

We only have ONE gated community in Madison...Chapel Hill. I honestly don't know what purpose the gate serves, you pull up and it opens. Not much for security.

There are not a lot of gated options in the HSV area.....and you pay the piper on the ones that are.
