The COVID-19 outbreak was very dangerous to us. We did not know the impact and we instituted draconian measures to "Bend the Curve." The stated purpose was to ensure that the hospitals would not be overwhelmed by patients requiring the limited number of ICU rooms and ventilators. We have mitigated the potential impact by upping the supply and limiting the use of the hospital beds and ventilators.

It is time to recover.

I for one will wear a mask whenever I'm out and about and near people. I will continue to wash my hands and limit my face touching. Beyond that, I think it is time to open up the small shops that are being devastated by Government action. Barbers, hair and nail salons, banks and other service stores can all open while mandating masks. Restaurants will still have a hard time and may need to limit customers and space them out since masks are not practical when eating. Take out is still an option.

I think now it is just a game of chicken as the State that opens first will take heat from the naysayers. It will also reap the rewards of being ahead of the curve.

Leadership is hard. I hope our leaders make this decision soon.
