Huntsville's rapid growth may not be enough to overcome the loses in other parts of the state. Alabama may lose a Congressional seat and federal funding as a result.

Alabama could lose a congressional seat next year. Here's why.

From what I read on AL.com yesterday they are now thinking we will maintain our seats.

The article states that the results are based on current estimates. We won't know for sure until the official census results are released. That might be sometime next year at the earliest. It would be too bad if Alabama lost out because not enough people responded to the census.

That was the real problem.

I agree. Too many people are dumb and think they are 'getting one over' on the government by not being counted. Issues like our state losing electoral votes goes right over their heads.

AL.com reported that Alabama 2020 census coverage was 99.9 percent. I'm not sure I believe it, as there were also reports that census takers were instructed to "put in numbers" on homes where they could not get information, and they rushed them to beat the early deadline. But actually 1 percent more (63.5%) self-responded in 2020 than in 2010. Anyway, claims of ignorance aside, who can blame anyone for not trusting the government?
