Not quite. The proposed “houses” were 3 story townhouses and his protest letter stated his concerns for family safety vs impact to surrounding home values. Those townhomes would be high priced and not section 8 type houses. Basically he came across as an elitist vs concerned citizen.

Yes, that was my point. But the government shouldn't be dictating things that degrade a neighborhood and the value of a person's house. I don't think that was the case with Curry's house, but it certainly has been in some areas. But again - I don't blame him. He has an expensive estate and doesn't want it devalued.

It appears….. that poorly managed trailer parks are part of the visible detractors in the county AND in Huntsville. Spoke to a HSV utility meter reader (before they became contractors) and he said 90% of his electricity turn-ons/offs (due to non payments) were in the dilapidated trailer parks. He said THAT is why HSV Utilities was pushing hard for digital electricity meters that could be turned off remotely.

Maybe I'm wrong but isn't Curry one of those Social Justice Warriors?
Then he doesn't want to be "Tarnished" by those that need Social Justice"! All I can say is typical!

I think he is. He's hypocritical in this instance, but I don't blame him for not wanting cheaper houses in the neighborhood. In his mind, it's something that everybody else should have to do, but NIMBY.

Sorta like Bill Gates doing his John Kerry imitation a day or two ago - he thinks he's not harming the atmosphere with private jets because he buys "carbon offsets". Well, things just don't work that way. I don't care if he flies solo; just don't be hypocritical and think it's OK for himself but not others.

And we've drifted way off topic.

Site as of about 5:30 PM today. You can probably guess what the black spot is.

If I'm guessing right, the black spot is very near the new emergency room site. But even if the ER was finished, it wouldn't have done any good regardless of how close it was.

Well, now another site is being prepped to the South? In the same field, each is separately by enclosed fences.

Any insight?

It's worse than that. Several years ago there was an article about how they were closing down many low income housing projects in Huntsville. Federal money favored the housing authority to instead spend their money on buying single-family homes for the displaced low income people. I thinking I remember them spending $180,000 for one house alone. I think the economics are way out of wack since there never be enough money to buy homes for all the low income people. Besides why is it fair for someone to get a house for free when I had to work hard to buy a house that is worth much less than the ones they are getting?

BTW, the reasoning to buy the single-family homes for them was that the homes would be scattered throughout Huntsville where nobody would know their income status. In other words they would no longer be stigmatized by having to live in a low income housing project.
