Hate to switch topics, but any good seafood restaurants in the Athens area? Not looking for fried catfish, more like trout, salmon, tuna, etc.

We're actually making it a goal to support restaurants that are non chain for the most part -- want to experience it all and not just the chains (tho' we do hit them for "known" menu items--comforting after a move). I'm happy with our finds thus far.

And best of luck to you! Looks like there are a lot of activities going on in Athens soon like the Art Festival on the 6th of Sept. and the Storytelling Festival later on. That should draw people to the area.

You might want to try Luvici's on the corner next to the hardware store in historic Athens. They had an eclectic looking dinner menu--very interesting. Only drawback for some might be lack of liquor license. Personally I do like a bold glass of red with any red meat I eat or a crisp chardonnay with a lighter dish. But Luciano's has a nice bar area so my DH and I think it might be fun to start there, progress to Luvicis and then head back to Madison safe and sound for a nightcap on our Veranda at home.

Luvici's was in Go section of the Huntsville Times on Thursday.

Short answer? None that I'm aware of. Maybe a little trivia will help explain. A while back we invited a 70 something neighbor to eat with us, and had salmon that we had picked up at the Publix in Decatur. It was her first time ever eating salmon in her entire life.

The only fishmonger is down by the Wilson dam, south of Rogersville. If you like seafood, you go there, a Publix, gag at the Wal-Mart stuff, or buy it frozen and shrink wrapped.

Went to Luciano's, heard it was good and have to say - well done. Athens has a little bit of European square for me. Very cool part of the world.

Clarks has seafood on the menue. I had a great prime rib tonight. Turn at the light on 72 like you are going to Cracker Barrell and go to the end of the road on the left. All good food. Salmon is on the menue.

One glass of wine over a 2 hour period during which food is consumed and strolling occurs through a lovely town square will not lead to driving under the influence in which any person is in danger of the driver causing an accident.

And I am looking forward to Luvici's for dinner as well as the BEFORE din din drink at Luciano's which also has a fabulous atmosphere.
