Are there any salons around here that offer Thermal Reconditioning services otherwise known as The Japanese Hair Straightening Technique?
If you have had it done here how much did it cost you at the salon you went to.

Edit: I live in Madison, somewhere close to the Madison area would be nice, but I am in Huntsville almost every day so that works as well.

The best place and cheapest place I have found with in 500 miles, is in Tupelo Mississippi.

They charge $300 no matter how long or short your hair is.

I can't tell you the name of the product they currently use. Just about every time I go, they have switched. The stylist there, go to the hair shows in either New Orleans, or Las Vegas, every year to keep up with the latest products. That way they can find out which products are the cheapest. I am glad they do that because it helps them to keep their cost down. But what ever product they are currently using, I assure you this is the official "thermal reconstruction Japanese straightening". All of their stylist are certified to do the process. They also offer Keratin, hair straightening, I know that is cheaper, but in my opinion it does not last as long or maybe it is just that for my hair, I do better with the Japanese process. I have frizzy Irish hair.

I have been getting it done for 15 years. For the first 8 years, I drove to Atlanta. All of the Dillard stores in Atlanta did it for $500-$600. One time I had it done at JC Penney in Tupelo for $280. That was a mistake. I bad broken hair for several months after that. They no longer offer it. They do not currently have any one who is certified to do it.

I also had my straightened in Memphis, TN at a place called Hollywood, 3 times. I was the only white woman in the salon all 3 times. A man and his son both were trained. It was a wonderful experience. It was closer than driving to Atlanta. Then I found this place in Tupelo about 8 years ago. I have been going there every since.
