I voted at Asbury church on Hughes rd. I drove by this morning after dropping the kids off at school. The line was out the door and around the building. I thought I would go around 10:00 when everyone had gone to work and the lunch break hadn't started. Fortunately if your last name started with A-M the line was short. For those in the N-Z category it was much longer. There was another line, which was longer, to get the ballot and then vote. The line to put the ballot in the machine was short and quick.

Total time to vote 20 minutes. It seemed much shorter.

Waited in line maybe 20 minutes. I was about #400 in the "H to Q" line. The "R to Z" people had it made with about a five minute wait.

Straight ticket, flip it over for the Amendment, vote NO. Put it in the machine. Get a sticker.

Voted at the Ridgecrest Elementary polling location. Arrived at 7:10, waited in line for 75 minutes, met six really cool people from a couple streets over, registered as the #270 ballot. There were over 100 people in line when I left at 8:30. Regardless of political lean, great feeling to see this interest. Hope everyone stays interested and involved. Politicians are not to be blindly trusted.

Champman Middle School?

We're going after husband gets home from work, since we have a toddler in tow...

Boilrmkr - so there are two lines, one to get the ballot and then another for voting - or is it ballot, booth and then another line for the drop box? Just so I can prepare myself for husband's grumbling...
(Boy, do I miss touch-screens.)

The system here is pretty backwards compared to what we did in Georgia. There, we had several weeks of advance voting where you drop by and vote whenever you like with no line, and also the ballot is an easy touch screen thing with a magnetic credit card ballot.

Filling in the arrows with the felt tip pen was kind of cute. It's really not a secret ballot, even, since people can (AND DO) peek at your ballot while you wait in line to run it through the machine.

Took me about 30 minutes around 10AM.

Ah - so it's a fill-in-the-blank-shape kind (monkey ballot)...while on line...heh heh heh. OK. So I'll be juggling a bit.
FL = One year we had to draw arrows...one year was a screen...one year I did it by mail. My mind is stretched to recall any other methods. Seems there might have been a simple fill in the box and punch it...

How about "Aye or Nay"...hey - if folks can (and will) read your vote in public anyway, why not save the time?

Who comes up with this stuff?

There was a line to show I.D. and sign your name. Then another line to get the ballot then another line to put the ballot in the machine after filling it out.

I'd be interested in how much time a person spent researching their decision on who/what to vote for/against in addition to how much time they spent in line.

Took maybe 20 minutes...long line in the A-Ms at the time, much shorter in the N-Zs. Here in Morgan County, we connect the arrow and put the ballot in the machine...it's not hard.

I miss the old voting machines where you'd flip a switch for the candidate of your choice, and then flip another switch to lock in your final vote. I felt so cool doing that!

I was very glad to see so many people voting. I've only missed a couple over the years.

ETA: Heck, I feel like I've spent 2 or 3 years researching candidates! I'll be glad when it's over. For now, anyway.
