I need help finding a pretty place to have an outdoor wedding. Hopefully in a garden. It has to be halfway cheap. I was thinking Delano Parks' new Rose Garden in Decatur, but they can't accomodate very many people. I need help if anyone knows of a place.
It has to be really close to Decatur, like Hartselle or maybe Huntsville.
I don't want:
Chapel on the Hill-Monte Sano Mtn.-family member already done it
Botanical Gardens-too expensive
Old State Bank Garden-not what i'm looking for
I don't want a church or chapel. I want a natural outdoor kind of wedding. Natural beauty. Nothing indoors except maybe the reception. Thank you....I can't find anything...

Consider the Madison County Nature Trail on Green Mountain. It has a very nice rustic chapel and a pavilion.

Default By the river

Just have it by the river where they already have grills located on the property. You will be able to enjoy the views of nature such as trees, wildlife, and the river.

If you think the Botanical Gardens are expensive, then I just don't know what type of wedding you're expecting to have. Elegance costs money, but don't be harsh on yourself if you don't have the money to toss around. Just have it by the river, and do it tastefully, and you will have a memorable time. Congratulations! And don't stress too much because in the end it is just you and your spouse.

My sister had her wedding on the grounds of Burritt Museum and it was really beautiful.

My niece had hers at Monte Sano State Park, using the bluff for the ceremony and one of the pavilions for the reception.

I always thought the beach pavilion at Lake Guntersville State Park would be nice for a wedding.

Since you said Decatur, you might look into the chapel at Point Mallard.

We had a reception at Rhodes Ferry Park (the one by the river in Decatur). There was no cost for use of the park, but we did have a big tent, caterer, flowers & the works. Our wedding planner (who was the florist) reserved use of the park for us. The setting was beautiful - pictures with the river in the background! The weather was not -it rained, which was really better since it cooled off the August day a little.
The visitor's center at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge? Never heard of anybody getting married there, but you never know.

Default Botanical Garden

I'm also in that same boat of trying to find a nice wedding location but I don't need a spot that can handle a large group of people. Anyway, I found this website for the Huntsville Botanical Garden with info on weddings

Huntsville Botanical Garden: Facility Rental

And just in case you need some wedding supplies info I found this website

Huntsville Alabama wedding supplies - Huntsville wedding chapel phtographer and bridal supplies

The chapel on the Mountain can get quite spendy depending on how many people you want to be there. Green Mountain is a great choice because it is... FREE! You just need to call Butch, but if you are planning for next year you have to wait until Jan 1st to reserve your day. I know you said you want something out door, so it doesn't really matter that the chapel on Green Mountain is small.

I wonder if there is a way to reserve part of Big Spring Park... You'd just have to watch where you step

If you find some nice spots, please let me know.

I saw what looked like a wedding reception at the Art Museum. (They had just cleared away from their photos when I snapped this. A few people are still standing there.)

Yes, the museum does have gathering spaces: Huntsville Museum of Art - Facility Rental (http://www.hsvmuseum.org/Pages/facility_rental.html - broken link) One of the places is an outdoor area. But probably not cheap.
Gooch Place, eh? That's new...at least, I've never heard of it.
Another new place is Sykes Place on Bank Street in Decatur: "Sykes Place" Decatur - Google Search and Syke's Place on Bank
It's not outdoors, though. I've been to receptions at Country Inn and Suites, across the street. Fairly small receptions, that is.
Have you talked to the Parks and Rec department about the Rose Garden? It might accommodate more than you think.
