Hello, I have been lurking here for quite awhile. We are moving to Meridianville in May, and have a daughter who needs a piano teacher. She is upper intermediate level. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Martie

I know a great piano teacher who lives north-east of the parkway. DM me, if you are still looking and in the meantime I will check to see if she could take on a new student.

Frances Schwemmer is one of the best (if not the best) piano teacher in the area. She has been teaching piano for many years. Her students win AMTA piano auditions regularly. Most (if not all) HSO Young Artist Auditions piano winners are her students.

Out of curiosity, what is the going hourly rate for a good piano teacher? Also, do you go to their place or do they come to your house?

As to the price I will let you know tomorrow. As to the location it's up to you and the piano teacher, find a way that works for both of you. My friend did some of it in her house and some in others, however, sometimes people do not have as good pianos in their homes available.

I guess Mrs. Schwemmer doesn't mind I post her web site, Schwemmer Piano Studio.

Since I know another piano teacher who has taught for 20+ years, and she was Mrs. Schwemmer's student, I was always wondering how long Mrs. Schwemmer has been teaching. Finally I checked her web site today and found the answer.

"Frances Schwemmer maintains a private piano studio in Huntsville, AL where she has taught for more than forty years."

"She enters students in the AMTA district and state auditions, having had consecutive state winners for the past 42 years."

And, I heard Mrs. Schwemmer's teacher is still teaching in UA.

There is a terrific teacher, Pam Siegler, who gives piano, guitar, and voice lessons at the Fayetteville (TN) Arts center. She's about 20 minutes away from Meridianville and well worth the drive. She was my teacher for 4 years and she is fantastic.
