Lived in Huntsville for years now, but for some reason we've never been to Sam & Gregs (downtown, courthouse square). We've driven by a few times, but it's been closed or we were busy, and it doesn't look like much from the street.

Man, were we blown away. Hands down, this is the best pizza in Huntsville. Better than Terry's, Tony's, Bellacino's, and certainly beats out the chains. Toppings were fresh and plentiful and the dough was perfect. They also have homemade gelato.

The only thing I don't get is that the place was dead - we were just about the only ones in there. The pizza was priced more than the chains, but nothing outrageous. Is there a reason why this place isn't more popular?

I won't go there again. It was busy on a Friday night and we got terrible service. Go to the pizza thread we already have started to get my full review. Pizza was good as you said though.

I believe I have been there only once and that was like...last year. I am trying to remember if they also sold ice cream or if it was another place.

yes, they have ice cream.

Service wasn't great on my visit, but for me - Tortora's is the best, hands down. I'm going to check out Village again and see how that one is.

Soon Mellow Mushroom will open up and we'll have one more good pizza place in town.

We went there a while back, during the weekday evening though, and the place was also pretty dead. But the service was GREAT !

I've typically had good service there. A couple times it has been pretty slow though. The pizza is always awesome. The owners are very friendly. I think this is their first restaurant endeavor, they've only been open a little more than a year. I think there have been a few hiccups but I'll cut them some slack, the restaurant business is tough.

I love Sam and Greg's. We just don't get downtown enough to enjoy it.

I think location the evening crowd during the week nights. I heard they are always busy during the weekend nights. I am sure the location is a plus at lunch time. I an sure they have a lot of call ins for lunch. Parking sucks on weekend nights.

I've always had good, if not great service there (especially for as busy as it usually is). Maybe you caught them on an off night, sarges dad? Have you tried it a second time?

It does get really packed on Friday/Saturday nights, but it's so worth it. I wonder if they will ever decided to expand next door? They could really use more seating.
