There are two tricks with particleboard shelving that sags. First, most of the adjustable shelving can be flipped over so the sag bows up. Second, if the shelving is the type that uses the undershelf pegs that fit into a row of holes, you can buy a small pipe cutter and a length of 1/2" copper pipe, and cut a section to just fit over the pegs, and let the shelf rest on the pipe. You may have to bow the side panels outward just a bit to get it in place. The pipe won't bend under any normal load and takes up very little vertical space.
