Grille 29 has the best selection of high quality seafood on a menu I've seen here. It isn't cheap though. For a market, Fresh Market probably has the best selection and quality. Publix has a nice selection. Star Market seems to be getting good seafood as well lately. The problem is that even at the grocery store, good, fresh seafood is REALLY expensive here.

Thursday's Go indicates Wintzell's will be opening up in the old Greene Hills Grill on Wynn Drive and US 72. They will be open in November. Until then, check out the location in Guntersville:

That's great news! I don't know how I missed that in the paper.

That building has been vacant far too long, and a seafood place is exactly what we need.

Joe's Crab Shack in Birmingham, AL, HWY 280. I ate there last week and it was great. They also have burgers for those non seafood eaters. You get a pot of seafood for about $20 and it is worth it. Also, every 30 to 40 min, the waiters will ask every on to get up and dance (electric slide, etc.). They said, they are really packed on Friday and Saturday. Good Luck!

That place is off the meat rack. The closest thing you could get to fresh tasting seafood without being on the coast.

I haven't eaten there but they have been around for a while. They are all over the US.
Joe's Crab Shack (http://www.joescrabshack.com/store_front_location.php?LC=CSHV - broken link)

Catfish Cabin features 'catfish' although they do have shrimp. I have been there a few times but I would recommend it only if you 'love' catfish and you had no where else to go for seafood. The fried shrimp weren't bad but the last time I had catfish there it just tasted dirty, although I had eaten there before and the catfish was OK.

Get a Costco membership (Hwy 231/431 and Hwy 72 intersection). Their seafood is not fresh (it's shipped frozen), but the quality is great especially the Alaskan wild salmon.

Can't speak of a good restaurant for seafood, as I've only been in H'ville for a few weeks.
