It should be strictly an informative thread, very matter-of-factly, stripped of any comments (good or bad), thank-yous (we know CD people are grateful), or chat-like, just kept short: "Event name...on "date"...at "place"...admission cost...recurrence ...source (link)>>> A calendar-type of thread. A good start is Chamber of Commerce weblink Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau (but that's as complete as organizers (or regular people) report their event and the calendar owners approve it for publishing)

People will keep coming to the area (whether BRAC 2012 or others) and keep asking what to do with a 5 yr old, 12 yr old, 9 grader, teenager, over and over, until more and more residents will be tired of responding the same again and again. For that reason, such a thread is needed.

PS> I don't mind repeating myself (and IF I did, I just wouldn't post), but I forget myself the year's events, that's why "posting as we go" works for me (and also marking my own calendar for a year's worth at the beginning of a new year)
- Many of the events are "long (or shorter)-standing traditions": the Madison/Hsv egg hunt on Easter, the themed train rides at Winchester train depo (Xmas, Easter, Halloween), Museum Day, LandTrust's spring and fall guided hike series, fireworks on the 4th, Historic Districts guided strolls and so on, Oktoberfest on Arsenal, Xmas parade downtown. But we need a centralized location for (new) people to get informed. Otherwise, it's each on his own. Just sayin'
Yes, please start that thread! I would never have known about the Museum Day or the World Children's Festival (and I really enjoyed that!)that was held back in August without this thread!
