Venice Bound...is this the video you were talking about?

(For the sensitive, keep in mind, this is an official news reporter and a live news report where someone in the background did flash the cameraman.)

I saw nothing about this Hurricane except it had 'hit the Bahamas causing widespread damage'.
Then it turned towards the US and i heard a bit more about it.
Then it was going to hit NY and it was everywhere. On the BBC all i have seen is 'Hurricane hits NY'. I heard nothing about it hitting North Carolina or Virginia which i believe got hit hardest.

Don't be so obtuse - that was the far end of the 5 day forecast cone.

I guess you're one of those people that expect forecasters to predict exact locations of earthquakes and lightning strikes.

I think anyone can predict the exact point of landfall 5 minutes before it happens. The report, from PMSNBC (gag), makes it sound like they had it all along. The didn't. They had it landfalling in multiple places, starting 800 miles away. Had they nailed it all along, I would give them major kudos. Constantly changing their prediction as the storm changes doesn't constitute a gold medal forecast. Any 12 year old watching on TV could have done the same thing.

And where do you think the storm prediction/forecast information on TV comes from?

From the same place that got it wrong by 800 miles and does not deserve a gold medal award for nothing more than anyone on the planet could have done.....as far as landfall.

As I was walking through the streets today, I heard a lot of people talking about how bad of a job Bloomberg did this weekend with all the evacuations and shutting down everything. I think he did the right thing. The models on Friday had a Cat 2 storm hitting Cape Hatteras and a Cat 1 hitting the City. It wasn't until Saturday when you saw that this storm was weakening and a Cat 1 or 2 wasn't possible for the area. Who would have thought that the dry air was going to be the problem with this storm. If there was no dry air in place for the storm, this would have been a Cat 1/2 for the area. I think on Thursday, the Euro had a Cat 3 hitting Cape May and a Cat 2 up here. . It could have been much worse.
