It looks more and more like they're certain it will turn on out to sea.

I'm hoping this system will go just a but south, so it will be over Scotland creating stronger winds over the rest of the British Isles.. there is a slight risk of tropical storm force sustained winds.. well, here's hoping.

I was busy off the coast of west Africa trying to figure out when the next major tropical storm would spawn a hurricane headed our way.

Katia may not have hit the U.S., but she is responsible in part for some of the EPIC flooding going on in VA,MD,PA,NY. I know the moisture has come mainly from Lee looking up with the cold front, but Katia did get close enough that it caused the training of the storms from Lee that caused this flooding. Storms have been training over the same areas for days and days on end, and its STILL pouring here, although not as badly as the past 3 days. 1+ FOOT of rain in my area, with lots of massive Flooding and at least 2 deaths here locally that I know of from all this flooding. Fortunately the low that was Lee is now retrograding which is starting to ease up on the rain here, but most of the damage has already been done. Between Lee hooking up with the cold front that stalled out, Katia helping Lee out, and Irene, we have had 20-25+ inches of rain in the last two weeks. At least our moderate drought (US Drought Monitor) is now long gone. Btw, I'm in Alexandria, VA in case anyone does not know to look under the user name for that info.
