According too Channel 2-6-9 out of Orlando tonight theirs a "Little Cloud" of the West Coast of Africa and the news media just watching this and they will by tomorrow be giving us updates every minute showing us that's it's moving at .00002 miles per hour should be here some time in September. Get ready for another year of the insensibilty of are great news media and total hype!!!I wonder how many invalid seniors sitting all alone in nursing homes hear this and what it does too their mind. Shame on are news media for all the hype, lets have just the news and not a 3 ring circus this year!!!! Now lets go too Tom and the flapping STOP sign too get the local wind speed.......

It is kind of interesting the way the hurricanes get all the publicity. A Pacific storm last December had hurricane force winds and a million homes in Washington sustained damage and lost power. Other people can be without power in the midwest because of violent thunderstorms (thousands in Missouri, last summer) or dead because of tornadoes (Tennessee) and those stories never make the front page.
I guess when it comes to severe weather, the media just can't get enough of the drama of East Coast hurricanes.

That's sad, I never heard of the storms in Washington, but I do remember hearing a lot about the TN storms, they really caused a lot of damage (hail!)
I don't mind the media covering when a hurricane is coming, but I cannot stand the hype when it's only a tropical storm. There's nothing you really need to do when the winds are only 50 miles an hour. I've driven to work during lots of tropical storms. We do need to take the storms seriously, but I could do without the constant 24 hour coverage...it's very nerve-wracking and stressful in my opinion...

Good post.

The media is definitely out of control with reporting.

Another good point was the fact that it must be hurting the hearts of the older people hearing this
