So where do you think Humberto will have to go? Can't be north... It's going to make a West turn underneath that big High.

I would agree. It will eventually travel west, though moving more NNW right now. There are several strong cold fronts moving through our nation, and depending on timing, it could block any future west movement. Too early to tell if this will be any land threat.

Humverto fighting some dry air but trying to become the first Hurricane of the season

NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
500 AM AST WED SEP 11 2013

HUMBERTO APPEARS TO BE TURNING TO THE RIGHT...NOW MOVING 330/7. THE
CYCLONE SHOULD TURN TO THE NORTH SOON AND ACCELERATE SOME WHILE IT
MOVES BETWEEN A RIDGE OVER NORTHWESTERN AFRICA AND A TROUGH OVER
THE CENTRAL ATLANTIC OCEAN. IN A COUPLE OF DAYS HUMBERTO IS
LIKELY TO TAKE A HARD LEFT TURN DUE TO IT RUNNING AGAINST A RATHER
STOUT RIDGE IN THE SUBTROPICAL EASTERN ATLANTIC
. WITH HUMBERTO
BECOMING A MORE SHALLOW SYSTEM IN THE LONGER RANGE...IT MAKES SENSE
TO STAY ON THE SOUTHERN SIDE OF THE GUIDANCE ENVELOPE GIVEN THE
STRONG LOW-LEVEL RIDGE FORECAST.

Hurricane Humberto First of the 2013 Hurricane Season

Hurricane Humberto shown here in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean is part of an uptick in tropical activity. Tropical Storm Gabrielle north of Bermuda continues to maintain a small area of deep convection and may intensify as it transitions to extra tropical status. The broad area of low pressure over the Yucatan Peninsula has shown signs of organization and has a medium chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 5 days as it moves into the Bay of Campeche. The low pressure system east of the Leeward Islands is expected to continue moving
