He's not expected to reach beyond tropical storm stage. If inappropriate here, please move this thread to Weather. But any rate, I'd like to read some discussion from the pundits because he's heading this way.

Yes, any named storm or potentially named storm resides in the Hurricane forum. I guess a more accurate description would be Tropics, or similarly named.

I can post some findings later tonight here (no time until then really sadly....). But others like Cambium may chime in before then with information. This particular setup is hard to forecast (I am just a fan of weather/hurricanes especially), and models are showing some interesting scenarios to say the least!

In the mean time you can look at the NHC's thinking. Updates issued at 11amEST(am/pm) and 5pmEST(am/pm) here: National Hurricane Center

And a video post from someone last night does a really nice job of explaining the current potential this week along the East Coast: https://youtu.be/Lb4zl54_XKs

There's a general discussion on the series of rain storms hitting the Northeast in the next week, of which Joaquin is the last of them, in this thread:

//www.city-data.com/forum/weath...pt-29-oct.html

but it's not Joaquin-specific, so maybe it deserves its on thread for discussion on its track and intensity while the weather forum thread would be more on its impact on the Northeast US.

Yup, will the Upper Low capture it like with Sandy and pull her in?

I will be updating the other thread on Joaquin just so I don't spread myself too thin. Don't forget to watch Bernie's video!

I'm hoping it will move further offshore....we do NOT need the damage a storm like this can cause!
