It seems like we could go into September without any hurricanes of Category 2 strength or stronger. I wonder how often that happens.
Also it's too bad Invest 99L still only has a 30% chance of forming in the next 48 hours.

Too bad? I relocated to Tampa area 2 years ago and bought new home. Yup, one of the models has it coming over my house, I think it is going to go north of me, but I really want it to fizzle away. Too bad you want to see other peoples misery, I sure have seen enough

Not his fault you did'nt care to plan about how to deal with the risks of living In Hurricane Alley. Typically when you move somewhere and buy a house you investigate what are the pro's and con's of living in the area and how to cope with whatever the cons may be. But in this case you act like you could'nt be bothered to ask what hurricane mitigation was used if any to the home and were planning on just wishing the Hurricanes away. It's people with that kind of thinking that make hurricanes dangerous. They don't ask builders how strong is their house or if they are in an evacuation zone, they don't care about having a disaster plan, and then when a potential storm comes they act like the sky is falling. Ignorence kills far more people than the storm it's self.

Um not true, had home built, east of i75, excellent hurricane codes adhered to, other poster seemed disappointed stating too bad storm wasn't going to form. Trust me storm preparedness high on our agenda, our plan is,in order, my truck fueled up just in case, some people, love to see this develop as long as,it doesn't inconvenience them
Sunday 11amEST August 28, 2016:
Atlantic:
91L between Bermuda and the US East coast has become Tropical Depression 8. Winds 35mph, moving W 9mph, pressure 1009mb (29.80in).
This is a combination of what used to be Fiona that was absorbed by another system that eventually has developed TD8. Because it's a combination of other systems this would get a new name and NOT be renamed Fiona if it reaches Tropical Storm strength.
Could be come a low end Tropical Storm soon. A Hurricane Hunter aircraft will investigate the system this afternoon. Moderate shear is keeping it from intensifying and is expected to increase, keeping the storm from getting much stronger. A TS Watch may be issued for the Outer Banks of the North Carolina coastline later today.
Anyone that get's killed by this thing is an idiot unless they were killed by a tornado that it spawned. 80-90% of storm related fatalities occur when people do things they should'nt. Like swimming/ surfing, driving through flooded roads, running a gas generator inside their house, etc

This system is inconveniencing me as I was going to the beach today but I can't because of the Rip currents, wind, and rain. But it's no big deal as I can go next weekend or any weekend after that. Btw which building code did you use? The Florida Standard Code or the High Velocity Wind Zone Code?

What's up with the GFNI? Every system it models it tries to blow it up into a massive hurricane.
