If it heads for sc then inland then yes, but its more like hazel which was the strongest hurricane to ever hit NC by categorical strength. Was a cat 4. If this is a cat 4 and takes the path of Floyd then it would be the worst disaster the state has ever seen. Floyd was cat 3, it's eye came all the way inland and passed pretty close by my house by the looks of weather models then.

If it comforts you, rarely does the worst of a hurricane hit VA beach. Most you can expect out of this is rough seas gusty winds and rain. Problem is you guys where hit just a week ago by record breaking, flooding rainfall which would make any more an absolute disaster.

Thanks for the updates, my fascination with these storms began in Florida many years ago. I resided on both coasts, after Wilma moved back north(as did many others tired of 2 years worth of power outages). Charlie was the worst, which was supposed to hit Tampa up until 48 hours before making landfall 40 miles north of me. Nobody was prepared for that one, as it was the first storm of the record setting 04' season. To complicate matters, almost no homes had hurricane straps in the county where it made landfall.

This of course was the result:

I'm not worried about a direct hit. I'm more worried about a direct hit near the outer banks. That would put us in the north east quay. Trust me live lived here many years. I'm familiar with the drill. My house is rated for cat 4 so I should be good but I like electricity.

ETA: as for the flooding the water is still high and we're getting rain almost every day this week.
