Cambium, if I'm not mistaken, Andrew hit some 200 mph. Wow, that was like a bomb got dropped.
Thanks for the reminder about Andrew. Special moment we might be witnessing and sharing with each other on CityData

False. Hurricane Allen in 1980 had sustained winds of 190 MPH at its peak.

Talked to my daughter in Nokomis this AM and I really think they plan to shelter in place...friend of hers who is farther inland in Sarasota was posting on FB about the craziness in Costco there...daughter said maybe they would just go east vs north to get away from coastline/surge. I doubt they would leave early (because of the unpredictable landfall) to get out of state. 75 will be parking lot by Thurs nt.

Re dogs--our schnauzer has bad storm trauma...even barometric pressure changes make her nervous...she has used Diazipam and now Alprazolam...both help...have to give 30-40 min before anticipate need...makes my dog very hungry

Ensembles are simply separate output results by the computers, called "members". There's the main models and their "ensembles" as well. You can get a mean look at the ensembles which is simply an average of them all OR.............. See each individual one like this..........

Global models and Ensembles

There are still many members that go into the Gulf and Out To Sea but majority of them focusing on Florida and Georgia and South Carolina

Is it possible that 1 line wayyy off from the rest is right? Sure. but it's a very small percentage it will be correct. Solid lines are the main models.

My wife and I walked on Miami Beach during Allen. I even caught a fish. I think you are mistaken, or it hit those winds somewhere else, certainly not Miami Beach.

LOL.. Miami was nowhere near the center. ... Allen had peak winds of 190 MPH while crossing the Yucatan channel.

I stand corrected. But as I said, not Miami Beach.

I guess I was thinking of hurricanes impacting us here in the states.
