6pMDT/8pEST 30 August 2017: PTC14E has become Tropical Storm Lidia approaching Baja California / West Mexico region. Winds 40mph (65km/h), moving NNW 7mph (11km/h), pressure 1001mb. Still intensifying, could reach near hurricane strength by Friday but then quickly expected to weaken due to land interaction.

Rains of 8-12in across southern Baja California, isolated 20in possible. Rains of 3-6inches along Western Mexico mainland coast near Baja. Flooding and mudslides are possible in these areas. Rip currents, high waves, and some storm surge are also possible.

Could see some tropical moisture from Lidia in California early next week.
