Ocracoke Island on the Outer Banks of NC will begin mandatory evacuations of VISITORS only starting 5amEST Monday 25 Sept 2017, and asking residents to be able to be self sufficient for at least 72 hours when the storm approaches. This is due to likelihood of ferry service being suspended by early Tuesday due to approaching rough seas. Hwy12 along the Outer Banks of NC has also just had to deal with over wash after Jose came near the coast leaving some areas vulnerable to overwash / closure which will be highly likely this week as Maria nears.

National Guard also working in Puerto Rico & St. Croix. Search & Rescue teams from several locations across the US have been working in Puerto Rico since Maria hit, some teams arrived prior to landfall. FEMA and Coast Guard delivering supplies to Vieques.

Flood and wind damage are different. Ask any insurance company. Wind damage is very specific. For instance, one of the pics has a car flipped and the captions says it was flipped by 155 mph winds. Yet there is a street sign upright in the photo. I would say that was most likely flooding that flipped the car. Otherwise, how would the street sign be still standing while a 2500 lb car is flipped? But, again, I don't know which is WHY I AM ASKING FOR EVIDENCE. I don't want some talking head blathering on about what I CANNOT SEE. I want to see for myself.
Then get on plane and fly there so you can see it first hand, because apparently that's the only way you'll believe anything. Maybe take some supplies and help in the restoration efforts if you go - seems like they could use the help down there.

8aEST 25Sept2017: Winds 75mph, moving North 7mph, pressure 961mb. As mentioned before, some Watches have changed to Tropical Storm Warnings as its a timed based issuance. Overwash near the coast, esp. portions of HWY12 along the outerbanks is likely in a few locations especially after Jose in the prior week. Storm surge flooding in the NC sounds may be 2-4feet! Please don't leave your cars in vulnerable areas! There are no dunes protecting sound side of Outer Banks and other Sound areas. Surge will likely come as winds shift, so some areas won't see until storm is pulling away (typical sound surge pattern of this area).

Visible satellite storm looks to be holding its own, but....

If we look under the hood Maria has some serious issues going on (edit, adding: Maria entering colder waters left by Jose, will continue to weaken):
Atlantic - Maria forms Sept 16, 2017-img_2343.gif

Along with higher/rough surf and increased rip current threat, the NHC states hazards include:
"HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
WIND: Tropical storm conditions are expected within the warning area beginning Tuesday. Tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area beginning Tuesday.

STORM SURGE: The combination of a dangerous storm surge and the tide will cause normally dry areas near the coast to be flooded by rising waters moving inland from the shoreline. The water is expected to reach the following heights above ground if the peak surge occurs at the time of high tide...

Cape Lookout to Duck including the sound side of the Outer Banks...2 to 4 ft

Surge-related flooding depends on the relative timing of the surge and the tidal cycle, and can vary greatly over short distances. For information specific to your area, please see products issued by your local National Weather Service forecast office.

RAINFALL...Maria is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches over the Outer Banks of North Carolina through Wednesday."

In an era where EVERYTHING is photographed, filmed, uploaded and shared instantaneously, where global sharing of events is live streamed, where nothing is private, where weather is an event as big as the superbowl, it is BEYOND STRANGE that a week+ after two Cat4/5 hurricanes storm through decimating, destroying, battering, mind boggling damage, proclamations of everything gone, no roofs anywhere ... headline of tragedy ... yet ...

There are about 10 pics that the newsfeeds are SHARING. That's it? It's not logical. At all. If you are not able to understand that, I don't know what to tell you. News orgs LIVE for this. LIVE FOR IT. Blood and guts if it bleeds it leads ... And not one is showing footage. Does. Not. Make. Sense. They've told us there is damage, they have not SHOWN US there is damage.

When the infrastructure to share those pictures is destroyed it makes it hard to share. If it had happened on the US mainland the news would be on it, but as it is they have no reason. They can cover and get ratings with Trump.

What would the reason be for lying about a disaster?

I honestly cannot fathom why you are so obsessed with this...

It's not rocket science to figure out that there was no way to get pictures or video out of an island that was decimated. As time goes on, less interest in that story. Especially when Mexico gets hit with a couple of strong earthquakes and another potential major hurricane is in the pipeline (Maria).

Again, interest in Irma has died. The interest that the media is onto now is dividing a country over kneeling at a sports event.
