And preliminary East Pacific season: 22 named storms: 12 became hurricanes & 9 of those were major hurricanes (Cat3+).

Storm Surge maps have been updated to now include Hawaii, US Virgin Islands and Hispaniola (Haiti & Dominican Republic).

“Florence” & “Michael” Atlantic storm names have officially been retired by the World Meteorological Organization. Since storms affect multiple countries, names are decided and retired through a multi-national body. Atlantic storm names repeat every six years unless they are retired.
