Wednesday - For some near and along portions of the coast --- TODAY is your last full day to prepare/evacuate. Tropical Storm winds (39+mph) may start arriving Thursday morning, others later and you'll have more time. TS winds herold the start of scattered downed trees and power lines, slowly rising surge/water levels from continuing onshore winds may start to cut off low lying roadways. So know if you're going to stay or leaving and execute that plan accordingly. And hopefully no more surprises in track today.

And a reminder that in landfalling hurricanes emergency services (911) will respond as they can but during the storm you may be on your own until its cleared.

Northeastern South Carolina is in a dry spell according to a US drought monitor web site so that will put a dent in the flooding initially. It looks like Georgia is going to get a taste of this.

Was going to tough this out in Southport NC. How ever, storm surg, rain predictions are increasing with winds over 100 mph. Myself and a number of neighbors are now evacuating. We are headed about 3.5 hours inland to Columbia SC. My home is 1.2 miles from the ocean at 10 foot elevation. Hope it does OK.
