24Sept18 5aEDT/AST: On Sunday Sub-Tropical Storm Leslie formed in the North Central Atlantic. May have a small piece of ex-Florence in it but is a combination of things now with no tropical characteristics just yet. Estimated winds 40mph(65km/h), moving S 6mph(9km/h), pressure 1004mb.

Although cone map shows it turning Eastward slowly, several models just spin this around in place for quite awhile.

Official updates for Atlantic basin storms comes from the US National Hurricane Center based in Miami, FL. Updates are issued at 5 & 11am/pmEDT/AST (If Watches/Warnings issued then updates are also added at 2 & 8am/pmEDT/AST) here: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov

Cone map (Shows: Current storm wind field at storm center(orange: winds 39mph+, red: 74mph+), Classification (Black/white dots with letters: "D" = Depression, "S" = Tropical Storm, "H" = Cat1 or Cat2 Hurricane, "M" = Major Hurricane (Cat3+)), any coastal tropical Watches/Warnings, and the "cone" is where the center of the storm could be over time (it's NOT the size of the storm), effects of the storm can be felt outside this area:

28Sept18 - 5pmEDT/AST - Winds 50mph(85km/h), moving W 10mph(17km/h), pressure 986mb. Now back to Sub-Tropical Storm status. Tropical Storm force winds (39+mph) extend up to 40miles from storm center. Expected to become fully Tropical soon as well as warmer waters ahead so some strengthening is forecast, could even see a Cat1 Hurricane out of this or close to it in a few days.

29Sept18 - 5amEDT/AST - Winds 45mph(75km/h), moving SW 7mph(11km/h), pressure 991mb.

Higher swells/waves now reaching Bermuda and parts of the Caribbean including Lesser Antilles, Greater Antilles, and Bahamas today (Saturday). Portions of the US East coast may see as well starting Sunday. Increased rip current risk with these. These come from when Leslie was a more intense storm earlier in the week, not from its current state.

3Oct18 - 5amEDT/AST - Winds 75mph(120km/h), not moving currently, pressure 980mb. Cat1 hurricane now. Hurricane force winds (74+mph) extend up to 40miles(75km) from storm center, Tropical Storm winds (39+mph) extend up to 230miles(370km). Higher swells from the storm will affect Bermuda, Bahamas, and east US coastlines through the week with increase in rip current threat but otherwise far enough away for no other effects.

Conditions favorable for continued strengthening but the stationary movement means it will eventually churn up colder waters limiting it's fuel source and promoting weakening if stays still too long. Storm expected to start moving more northward with a trough to its NW and High Pressure ridge to its East forcing it more upward followed by a front pushing it out more to sea in a few days.
