3Oct18 2aPDT/5aEDT (11pHST 2Oct18): Walaka formed on Saturday 29Sept18 with the 11aHST/2pPDT/5pEDT update. It steadily increased in winds becoming a hurricane Sun 30Sept18, a Cat3 on Mon 1Oct18 and Cat4 on Monday as well, and even a Cat5 with 160mph(260km/h) winds by later Monday. Incredible rapid intensification streak. Began slowly weakening Tuesday.

Estimated winds now 130mph(215km/h), moving North or just a tad East of due North 13mph(20km/h), pressure 946mb.

Hurricane winds (74+mph) were expected on Johnston Atoll.

Hurricane Warning (Winds 74+mph expected within 36hours or less) for Johnson Atoll, Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument from French Frigate Shoals to Maro Reef.
Tropical Storm Warning (Winds between 39 and 73mph expected within 36hours or less) for Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument from Nihoa to French Frigate Shoals.

Cone map (Shows: Current storm wind field at storm center(orange: winds 39mph+, red: 74mph+), Classification (Black/white dots with letters: "D" = Depression, "S" = Tropical Storm, "H" = Cat1 or Cat2 Hurricane, "M" = Major Hurricane (Cat3+)), any coastal tropical Watches/Warnings, and the "cone" is where the center of the storm could be over time (it's NOT the size of the storm), effects of the storm can be felt outside this area:

4Oct18 11aHST/2pPDT/5pEDT - Estimated winds 90mph(150km/h), moving N 22mph(35km/h), pressure 972mb. Cat1 Hurricane now. Quite the week for this storm strength wise! All Watches/Warnings have been dropped as storm is far enough from land. It should continue to weaken eventually swiftly heading towards the Alaska, Yukon, and British Columbia region as a much weaker system.

6Oct18 5aHST/8aPDT/11aEDT - Estimated winds 50mph(85km/h), moving NE 26mph(43km/h), pressure 992mb. Storm has become extra-tropical and no more updates will be issued on this system.
