Here is video of the August 1933 hurricane that cut an inlet through down town Ocean City, MD and its boardwalk, forming Assateque Island. That inlet today is one of the easiest to navigate on the whole east coast!

Tonight will also mark the 30th anniversary of Cat4 Hurricane Hugo coming into SC near Charleston in 1989. One of only 3 Cat4's to have ever hit the SC coast since the late 1800's (Hugo 1989, Gracie 1959 & Hazel 1954). Charleston harbor recorded surge around 10.4ft and Bulls Bay just a few miles north had 19.8ft of surge.
