Fri 7July2019 5pEDT/4pCDT: Winds remain 65mph, moving WNW 6mph, pressure holding at 993mb for the moment. Expected to become a Cat1 Hurricane just before landfall, within the next 12-24hours. Rain, flooding & surge remain biggest threats.
Loop past 4hrs with dew points.
Rain band whipping into New Orleans now with dews in the mid-upper 70s. Must be feeling tropical there.
Also, note the Hurricane Icon? That's this report:

Wow it just whipped the rain up and around towards land suddenly huh? Don't forget for those watching that radar can only see off from land so far. There's more over the Gulf, we just can't see it on radar yet.
Fri 12July2019 8pEDT/7pCDT: Winds 65mph, moving WNW 4mph, pressure 993mb. That super slow speed will drench portions of the South with a tremendous amount of rain though the weekend. Remember that water is the no.1 killer in US land-falling tropical systems (Surge and inland flooding). Most US flood fatalities are vehicle related...please DONT drive through water covered roads even if others are. Pressure and winds remain unchanged at the moment. The earlier really obvious spinning cloud was one of the multiple low level vertices, it's rotated back down into the main convection(storms) on the South side of the enlarged overall center of Barry.
Obs:
-Houma, LA: 33mph sustained, gusting to 48mph.
-Patterson, LA: 43mph gust.
-Surge: 3ft Lake Pontchartrain
