Intense lightning near the eye can be an indication of sudden change in strength (up or down).

From the early afternoon Euro run, this is simulated max wind speeds next 7-days. Illustrates that if Dorian does hit FL perpendicular (straight into coast) what wind field could look like. So similar to Andrew you get a comparatively small channel of intense winds across FL and not much outside that (the one good thing about an intense storm). But VERY big question of who gets that (if goes straight to FL and not curve any). Subject to change and may move up/down/angle. Not to mention what does it do if make makes it into the Gulf.

Will be in key largo all weekend... here now... Picked up food/40 gallons of gas (14 in a gas can, the rest in the truck)/a syphon/a couple cases of water (also have 40 gallons of it on the boat) and booze! Going to enjoy riding it out. Hopefully the boat makes it, not sure how my CT policy would work down here.
