Dorian is now a Cat 4!
Winds at 1000ft off the surface were near 190 mph with this dropsounde. WHOA!
The winds those Hurricane Hunters fly through are ridiculous. Got to tour a NOAA & AF one this spring. And that reading a good reminder the winds of a hurricane are stronger the higher up you go, so the top of a 30-story high rise averages about 20mph more than what’s at ground level(what the storm is rated at).

Thats when their work becomes a stressful day. Or maybe they enjoy it.
My twitter feed has become overwhelming. So much content. I dont even kniw what to post here anymore.
Agreed. Here’s one I found from Brad (link to site later in that thread), showing a different way to visualize the sketti models...this puts them more like a density image to show where they agree more (reds) or not:
If current pattern holds, old_cold (and me with silence) wished and got the best. *S/he stays in the Atlantic, and does not affect anyone. Keep on predicting European model!
*They are always she to me. Like a fine classic car.
Hopefully it will stay offshore enough to be no big deal. But Charley in 2004 taught me how quickly things could change. Went from feeling sorry for the people in Tampa who are going to get clobbered, to sitting in the dark in Altamonte Springs listening to the trees crashing down.
These changes make may be good for the direct hit type of damage, but all those north of the eye wall along the coast will be hammered with the winds and storm surge and could be devastating up the entire coast of FL and beyond. This could actually impact more people in a worse way.
