A severe thunderstorm warning expired for the Naples, Golden Gate, Marco Island area at 6:45 pm.
Possible rotation in a few spots, wind, possible hail. Yes, nasty weather all right.

8pm Update: A Cat 5 crawling at 5mph. Nuts! Good sign its that slow, ready to make the turn. But remember, Hurricane force extend 45 miles from center. TS force 140 miles. So even if the center is less than 150 miles off the coast, the coast will get sustained TS force winds

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 800 PM EDT (0000 UTC), the distinct eye of Hurricane Dorian was
located near latitude 26.6 North, longitude 77.6 West. Dorian is
moving toward the west near 5 mph (7 km/h). A slower westward to
west-northwestward motion is forecast during the next day or
two, followed by a gradual turn toward the northwest. On this
track, the core of extremely dangerous Hurricane Dorian will
continue to pound Great Abaco and Grand Bahama islands tonight and
Monday. The hurricane will move dangerously close to the Florida
east coast late Monday through Tuesday night.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 185 mph (295 km/h) with higher
gusts. Dorian is a category 5 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson
Hurricane Wind Scale. Some fluctuations in intensity are likely,
and Dorian is expected to remain a catastrophic hurricane during the
next few days.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from
the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140
miles (220 km).

The minimum central pressure recently measured by an Air Force
reconnaissance plane was 915 mb (27.02 inches).

There's plenty of time and space for the right turn. This storm could be outrun on a sailboat at its current pace.

7 pm wind speed off Freeport: 31 knots = 35 mph
TS force winds are 140 miles from eye ... Freeport is 75 miles from eye ... wind speeds just to the west where the buoy is are only 35 mph?

Didn't it make landfall like 6hrs ago? And just now getting to the Grand Bahama island. It's barely moving now. Ready to make that turn. Wow this is crazy to watch.

Loop past 4hrs. 5-9pm Sept 1, 2019. Wave of heavy wind and rain about to miss West palm Beach again.
