All SC evacuation orders lifted now. Schools can make their own decisions on closings but otherwise back to normal Monday.

10a- Ocracoke gauge shows surge has peaked, beginning to fall. Hatteras should be nearing peak surge.

East VA/NC conditions should start overall improving this afternoon (flooding, winds, tree / power issues a few more hours though), basically have a nor-easter riding up near the US coast but 80mph-ish hurricane straight into Nova Scotia late Saturday.

I smell the tropics but with temps in the 60s today it doesn't feel tropical at all! Feels like a Fall NorEaster. Wow.

60-80mph gusts coastal VA and MD.

The Carolinas got whacked while Georgia escapes mostly unscathed. Longitude really makes a difference with these storms thanks to Georgia being so far west.

Dorian originally formed as a tropical depression 13 days ago – on the morning of August 24th. It was upgraded to a tropical storm and given a name that afternoon.

Dorian became a hurricane on the evening of August 28th – 9 days ago.

It's moving away from the US now. Finally! Wow! It's been a long 2 weeks!
