Thurs 9pm: Aircraft recon measuring dropping pressure and increasing winds, recon data suggest around 95-100mph now (not official yet, under review).

Well I am off to the southeast SC beaches for the weekend! I'll check in time to time each day but may disappear for a bit.

Hunters are flying inside the Hurricane. You can see them zig zagging here and plotting the data as they go.. The L is where they found the center to be and note 977mb. Pressure drop. The highest winds are 91kts right over there. That's 104mph. Cat 2

Wont get too technical on you but look at the chart on the right. 960mb had 110kt winds. So at 2000' in the air its 126mph sustained winds!

That guy should get a boat and go out and meet Dorian, up close and personal.

Hello, everyone. I am close to Fort Lauderdale. Has anyone here been in a major hurricane? I have a flight out to Houston on Saturday and was supposed to return Tuesday but can't decide whether to go without knowing if I can return. That's if the flight doesn't get cancelled on Saturday.

Anyway, I am afraid to sit through this hurricane.

I have a boat but not running it 1320 miles from my coast to meet it unless you pay for the trip. Looks like i will get no rain or wind from this sytsem as it slows down and allows the high to break down.

Better stay put. Once you leave the hood they may not allow you back in for days if there was any real damage. You should be south of the bad side of the storm and should be ok. Strongest winds are only 21 miles from the center of the storm.
