I was watching a local news station live stream on YouTube, and so far, it seems that all the "gloom and doom" forecasts were WAY overblown (sorry for the pun). To me, it seems like it is a whole lot of "no big deal", and I hope I am RIGHT!

Btw, why do so many local weather forecasters seem to talk at a loud and frenzied pitch. (I think they might be trying to whip up some excitement when there is nothing -- so far, at least -- to be very excited about.) That is very annoying to me.

Heard from our friends who live on the outer banks a bit ago. They are all tucked in and waiting it out. They are about five blocks from the water and up on a dune, so they figure they will be OK.

Posted within 2min of each other this time! It is an amazing shot.

Yes, I’d be surprised if that toll doesn’t rise substantially eventually, if not then I’d like to know more about shelters used and how many evacuated before hand, etc. Looks like lot of cement buildings though at least. We like our wood stick built houses in the US.

7p: Winds 105mph, moving NE 10mph, pressure 964mb. Located about 55miles SE of Myrtle Beach, about 65miles SSW of Wilmington, NC. Current MB winds up to 40’s sustained, gusting into 50’s...Storm center far enough offshore for major issues appears.

Looks like Bald Head Island / Kure Beach area getting or about to be in the eyewall though where it sticks out. WindAlert station has 52mph sustained, gust 64mph nearby. Current track would take it close to Morehead City as well (subject to wobbles).

Tropical Storm Watch up for Woods Hole to Sagamore Beach Massachusetts, Warning Martha’s Vineyard & Nantucket.
