Wed 4Sept2019 6p: Winds 110mph(175km/h), moving NNW 8mph(13km/h), pressure 961mb. Given that it's at 110mph... its just 1mph from being a 'Cat3' again...don't be alarmed if this happens. So with a fairly steady-ish pressure that tells us no major jumps in winds up or down are expected. Things will start going downhill this evening, especially near the coast parts of GA and SC. Will post some obs shortly.

Just saw that another poster identified the garage as being farther north, near the Wild Dunes development. Could be, but it strongly resembles the Seaside Inn garage to me. If the video were taken during a typical rain storm, I would think cars would be parked inside, rather than the garage being completely empty.

Thanks for sharing this - makes it all too real, since I've stayed at the Seaside Inn a couple of times.

Meanwhile, I have a relative who chose to ride it out in a house two blocks from the ocean on St Simons Island. Plenty of food and water on hand, but SS is getting heavy rain plus unusually high tides plus significant tidal surges this evening, though the worst of the wind has dropped somewhat. St Simons' highest elevation is around 15 feet. It's likely lower at my relative's house, which I have not visited.

Sure hope my relative made the right decision.

Additional obs:
-60mph gust NOAA buoy near GA coast (NHC 5p)
-56mph gust Folly Beach SC (NHC 6p)
-35mph, gust 48 Sapelo Island (NHC 7p)

Getting better organized, pressure only down a tiny bit to 959mb (8p update) so not too much change anticipated but technically could bump up to a Cat3 tonight but not much difference with what it is right now really it would appear, located about 130miles S of Charleston, SC moving NNW 8mph.

Loop last 4 hrs. Just 130 miles off the coast. Rain not making it too far inland.

Recon just measured 114/115mph surface winds, so if they confirm not contaminated readings then will become Cat3 next update. Only 5mph more then current rated so not a huge jump, more of a technicality.

Nope...9p update kept at 110mph. Will have to wait for an upgrade at 10 or an explanation from NHC at 11p full update. Maybe they don't want to jump back and forth since on the border line of 2/3 or was contaminated possibly. But now North movement at least.

Wed 4Sept2019 evening river / water levels (Low tide many places currently):

**NOT official...just my interpretation of the USGS gauges/graphs**
-Fort Pulaski, GA (Savannah) about 2ft+ abv normal low tide
-Charleston, SC Harbor about 2ft abv normal low tide
-Just S of Myrtle Beach, SC about 1.5ft above normal low tide

Can view these and more: https://water.weather.gov/ahps/

My last post for tonight.

We have vacationed in that area before—10 yrs or more—
It is pretty flat
Unless my house was on really good cement pilings above storm surge I would have left
I am sure they are worried about vandals even during the storm
But plenty of people in Rockport area found out it was not smart when Harvey came through
