From what I've just read from the 8PM report it looks much better for the gulf coast folks. What could have been a Cat 5 looks to be much less powerful coming ashore. Stay safe up there everyone. Don't take unnecessary chances.

OMG ILNC, that's the second accident in just a few days for you guys. Hopefully that's the end of your bad luck.

That was great that you went to get your Mom so she'll be safe. Have you guys had any evacuation notices yet or is it just voluntary? It's not looking good for your area right now.

Because she lives in East Texas and we thought the wind and rain might be worse there we decided to go get her and I am enjoying my visit with her. So far the weather has been sunny here.

Looks like by the last report at 10 CDT that you are going to get some rain but maybe not so much of the wind. Stay safe everyone in harms way.

DANGEROUS SITUATION UNFOLDING!!!!!!!!!

New bouy data showing 30ft wave heights approaching NOLA from the SE. Serious storm surge near 20 feet possible for the right front quadrant of Gustav which includes Lake Pontchartrain. The levees will certainly be tested again tonight, and at the moment it is not looking good.

Please pray for these people tonight.

Yes, I am praying and urging others to do so as well. Dallas is beginning to get many, many evacuees in today.

It doesn't look good for N.O. at all. Everyone should be out of there if they knew what was good for them. The people I feel sorry for are the emergency workers~paramedics, police, firemen, etc. that are often required to stay behind.

Kay, what have your local stations said about your area? It looks like you'll get hit with a lot of rain in a day or two, but it's always hard to tell on the national maps exactly what they're predicting in one specific area.

Anthony, it's good to see you back. You always have such good info to share.
