Thank you breer23 for your kind offer. I will keep that in mind should occasion arise. We do have a chocolate lab and he is an outdoor dog. Though he is the smartest best dog ever, I know people are set in their ways. If it is meant for us to be there, God will open all the doors for us. Thanks again.

Your husband might not find a job in mining here, but heavy construction is heavy construction; I.F. has some heavy construction companies, which do a lot of road work. Even though road contracts are short this year, there is always a stretch that gets attention, and many of the roads here need blasting work from time to time.
I think that your best chances of finding a rental home would be to check through the local realtor's offerings- in my neighborhood, several homes that were originally up for sale were rented when they weren't sold quickly- one was rented for 18 months, then was sold.

I.F.'s winters swing in 10 year cycles- 10 years of cold winters followed by 10 milder winters. In between, there are always a few winters that are unpredictable. About the only constant is a couple of weeks of very cold temps in January.
For Californians, it's a matter of adjustment- those who come and stick learn how to dress for winter, how to drive, and how to conserve. I've always found that it's easier to add layers in cold weather than to bear the heat of a very hot summer- when I'm down to skin and still too hot, that's tough for me. And I would not swap the dry cold winters of Idaho for the damp cold winters of the northeast any day.
