I am so excited about the possibility of moving next summer!!! My husband has a job opportunity and I can't wait! I am originally from northwest MT and have been living in southern ill for 15 years....too hot and humid and NO SKIING!!!! We visited IF during the blue angel weekend (awesome show) and toured the area...grand targhee and area and LOVE IT!!!! I have two boys one will be graduating this year and I hope he will move with us and another will be a junior by the time we move. We drove by the HS and he liked hillcrest cause of the tennis courts. He plays soccer, tennis and plays in the band and is a great student. He is hesitant about moving (loves the idea of a ski resort being soooo close) but is open to the idea. I would like to find out more information about the schools (we come from a HS size of about 600). Are there marching bands? He is also interested in the civil air patrol. I want to give my son the most information I can about IF to make the transistion easier for him...I am already sold. Especially after sitting in the hot sun all day during the air show on the concrete and not even breaking a sweat...it was AWESOME!! We attend a church of christ and I know there is only one small one there, and I know the preference is predominately LDS. Just curious if there are any outside youth groups other than school or church? I have been a special needs aide for early childhood for 10 years and wonder what the job opportunities look like in the area?

Housing prices are unbelievable! I thought they would be sky high because of the area but am very suprised....it's doable!!! What neighboorhood suggestions do you have? I would love to live on that little hill overlooking the town and my husband would love to be in country...I personally am tired of living in the country. He will be working on the west side of town and did not get a chance to see that area. Shopping looks great!!! But I will have to stay away from Chuck o rama! Apple gym looks awesome, but didn't get to talk to anyone about membership fees...probably enourmous by the looks of the place!

Ok nuff said.......oh...I am an avid gardener...not so much food..but FLOWERS! Someone tell me about gardening!! I have a long growing season here and I know it will be a lot different. I will definately be getting a greenhouse!!!!

Ok now nuff said...I welcome any input good or bad about everything IF!! Most info about schools clicks, sports, teachers, etc. I gotta sell my kids!!!!

Thanks and c u next summer!!!

UPDATE: My hubby finally got to go to idaho falls and was very impressed with Hawks Landing. We also checked out Eagles landing apartments...we will need at least a 3 bed apartment...looked at teton and mountain view....are there any others that are equivalent to Eagle landing?? Hows the job market?? I am an early childhood special needs aide with the school district here. I noticed that there are some positions available...mostly high school...pay isn't as good, but hey...summers off!!

my oldest is graduating this year and has applied for idaho state...but we havent checked out how long you need to be resident to get instate tuition...how is the campus in idaho falls....still welcoming more personal info...websites are great, but like to hear personal opionions too!!!

Congrats!! I think your family will enjoy the area.

As for high schools, Hillcrest is a great school. I have one nephew and niece that have graduated and two that are attending there now. I know they've a music program as I've attended many concerts, I'm unaware of a marching band so uncertain there.

I do know that Idaho Falls high school does have a marching band.

I am certain Eagles Landing will place you into Hillcrest's boundary and am pretty much thinking Hawks would as well.

How to how long one has to live here to become considered a resident for in state tuition, I think it's one year, but hoping someone who knows can jump in here.

Gardening? Not my department LOL, however I'm sure Norcalmom will jump in sooner or later to help with that area.

There's plenty of activity around for kids to become involved with where the clubs aren't directly associated with either a church or school, typical of most communities; baseball, ski club, soccer, etc. etc.
