First, where have you been IFGuy? Have not seen a post from you for awhile...

Yes, this area, exit 113-116 is poised for growth. I wouldn't be surprised if a major hotel pops up at exit 113, in addition to more retail, probably low-end fast food, etc.

The Melaleuca project is coming right along, and there is more to come.

Over the years I have come to the conclusion that development acts almost like an infectious disease, (wrong image, I know), but when development starts it spreads.

Turns out exit 113 is becoming more lucrative than 116. When Teton VW moves to their Teton Toyota property, that exit becomes mostly vacant again. However, as you said, with Smith Chevy/Honda moving in, there is hope. I wonder how The Sleep Inn is doing with occupancy.

I believe this stretch of I-15 will be unrecognizable by 2016.

We should be hearing something soon on the event center groundbreaking. They are now in the last few stages of preliminary work. City council approval and approval from the building department (building permit) and we should be seeing a couple new cranes in the sky in a month or two.

I like this idea. With all the development, more than ever sustainable air travel between Idaho Falls to Boise is needed even more. Natural Foods talked recently how they decided to enter ID in the Boise and Idaho Falls markets. The need for affordable air travel between ID's largest western airport and largest eastern exists. I think the local brains will be success where larger airlines have not.

I remember reading a few months ago that Costco may be delaying Idaho Falls in order to see how their new, larger prototype stores in the midwest are doing. These stores are 150,000+ sq.ft., I have also noticed new Costcos in California and Texas typically have an In and Out adjacent. This new development in Austin, TX sounds just like what I.F. needs. Yep, I saw that as well. I found it interesting that in tuesdays post register the developers of the land south of sunnyside basically asked for the city to annex the land, place infrastructure, and make some concessions for smaller businesses. Seems to me something big is going to be announced soon.
