Joox, glad to see you're doing well! I know first-hand how hard the first year can be, in a totally different place. How about the horseback riding you were interested in--have you found any good places?

CCF: It good to here from you too. I'm leasing a horse at Parkwood (Parkwood Jumpers). When I'm not at work or asleep, I'm at the barn. Without the horses I think I would have gone crazy in IF. I do believe that it is very important to find a way to meet people..regardless of where one ends up moving. Riding is my way.

The Mormons are really only bad if you're a kid growing up there.

Look up local sports teams. I used to play with the Ultimate Frisbee clubs there and they play all year round which is amazing. As for nightlife ... it'd be nice if you could bar-hop in IF but sadly the downtown strip is really declining. If someone knows better please fill him in.

One of the best parts of living there will be your proximity to Jackson Hole, WY. A ski pass there is ridiculously expensive if you're not a student. But there are other hills. I'd really recommend going skiing every couple weekends during the winters, which are admittedly pretty harsh. There's also good fishing all over the place, Palisades Dam is my favorite place for that, its close by and Rapalas work great.

Well I hope you like it there. I grew up there and I want nothing more than to go live on the beach.

Yeah I actually had the biggest culture shock when I first LEFT Idaho Falls. It was just SO weird that there weren't Mormons everywhere... I mean, I knew it'd be different but I didn't expect it to be, if that makes sense.
