If you're asking about Idaho Falls in general, it's considered a very safe area. If you're talking about the particular zip code boundary (part of town), I'm not sure. Give me a street name or particular area I could tell you more. THere are a few somewhat run down areas of the city that do have a higher incidence of crime but in general crime is not a big problem here.

Jobs - well, I guess it depends on what you do. There are always jobs in the paper for such things as nursing, retail and construction. The pay here is somewhat low though. I know our cost of living is lower than most, but it's still hard to swallow the small paychecks here. Unless you are a doctor, lawyer, or some other highly trained professional or work out at the INL don't expect great pay. Look at our newspaper postregister.com The classifieds are free to look at. You can also check out idahoworks.org for job listings.

Schools - I can't say that the schools are great, but not the worst. They do tend to be on the safe side but they are rather underfunded, which is a problem in many other states as well. Some of the schools here have better reputations than others though. Hillcrest High in Ammon has a really good rep but it is in district 93 which has the most funding problems. District 91 tends to have less funding issues but I'm not sure which schools in that district have the best rep.

District 93 which has a good portion of 83401 (if not all) is dealing with a population boom that they weren't expecting. My guess is they drive with blinders on as there have been several subdivisions that have gone up in the county, yet day one of school they were caught offguard with 300 and some odd students they weren't prepared for. There have been two new elementary school built, one of which is already sporting bungalows in its first year.

Crime isn't too bad, same as any city we have it, but not as bad as a major city.

Jobs, as stated, depends on what you're looking for.
