I'm moving to Idaho Falls at the end of November. For most of my life I've lived somewhere you can buy beer at a 7/11 or some such place. Most places had certain hours you could buy beer. What's the deal in Idaho Falls? I know it's a liquor store state, but are those store the only place a 12 pack of beer can be purchased? If so, what are their hours.

Nope, you can buy beer at most grocery stores and gas station convenience marts.

Hi, elmc...
breer is correct, but I think you can't buy beer after 1 a.m. I don't know that for a fact, though. Other than that, no probs.

Make road trips to Boise to stock up on beer No wacky hours over here and there are stores devoted to just selling beer and from all around the world too.

Alcohol can't be sold between 2 am and 6 am anywhere in Idaho. But beer and wine are sold everywhere.

One thing to keep in mind in Idaho is that city/county laws can supercede state laws. In SE Idaho, there are some cities/counties that prohibit certain alcohol sales on Sunday. This can include beer/wine, (during certain Sunday hours), so you need to check local laws. Sunday hard liquor sales are allowed by the state, but not by many counties. So, for example, you can be in Pocatello and find liquor stores open on Sunday, and drive north to Blackfoot or Idaho Falls and will find everything closed. It is kind of strange, but that is the way it is in Idaho.

The liquor biz is changing quickly in the NW. Washington recently approved supermarket sales. There is already talk in Oregon and Idaho of following suit. Could take awhile, though, as the WA debate has been going on atleast a couple years. I would expect Oregon to be next, but Idaho still has some very conservative counties that may provide a roadblock.
