I stumbled onto something accidentally this am. I don't know if this has been announced or not as it was just posted on the IF City Website on 6/6/2013.

Flights to start to a new casino in Laughlin, NV from IF. I think it was in the events or news section. Not what I was looking for but I decided to post here so others can check it out. Boeing 707 or 737s, I can't remember which. My point is it is they are good airplanes.

Check it out and maybe the links to see if this will continue past July.

From what I've read, it's not a bad deal for the money as it includes a four night stay. However, knowing what I do that is somewhat out of the question

Allegiant Air. They make you stay a certain number of days, increasing your losing streak. Bad idea, unless you are winning big. Unlikely. Better idea: drive yourself and leave on your own terms.

After what some friends of mine went through a few weeks ago with Allegiant, I concur. They were on a Mesa-Vegas turn around and got stuck on the tarmac in Vegas in two different planes for about 4 hours with no a/c!!! One elderly lady wound up needing an ambulance after passing out, it was then they finally brought the passengers some water. My friends wound up staying yet another night and renting a car to get home.

When I went in 2010, I drove to SLC and flew Southwest into Vegas, which is what I'll do next time

Yep, I just did the same thing this week. Drove to SLC, parked in their reasonably-priced economy lot, flew Delta to LAS, (about 170 r.t.), rented a nice Kia for $70 for two days, then stayed at the Aria in City Center, (comped) because they love former players especially mid-week. My offer included two free buffets, and a waiver of the resort fee. (I think you have to build up some points for this kind of offer, but it was well worth it with a 19th floor Strip view from the Aria).

One thing about Vegas that I have learned over the years is two days is about right. Then get the heck outta there!

Which brings me back to these Allegiant offers. They deliberately spread the itinerary out for four days, to capture more of your cash.

Maybe, about Allegiant. I agree 2 days of Casinos etc. is enough. There are other things to do in Vegas.

I read a report today that the City of Idaho Falls wants to work with Allegiance to get direct flights to San Diego and Seattle. I don't know that Allegiance has enough aircraft to be flying the other routes. Maybe they could stop in IF on the way from Seattle to LAS and vice versa. But they are absolutely talking about additional routes with Allegiance. I think those would have to be more work week times.

That's a horrible story about the Mesa Airlines on the Tarmack! I wonder what was ultimately wrong?

Mesa will be flying to a different airport won't they for the Laughlin Casino?

It was a full page ad in the PR today about the trip and dates to Laughlin, NV on Mess Airlines.

I thought it was interesting there was a 1/4 page ad from IF to Wendover for $99.00 from 8/12- 8/15. I didn't see who the airline was.

Could the various NV areas be competing for business since Allegiance has done so well in Idaho Falls?

The Wendover flight is Allegiant as well.

Chartered, but using Allegiant planes. BTW, did you know you can smoke on most chartered planes? I learned this recently, and even though I don't personally smoke, thought it was interesting. MSR, did you use the word "Mess" on purpose? If so, that's funny for Mesa.

Cleosmom, thanks for your PM, not sure if you got my reply. I guess I didn't quite understand if you thought I was there or something.

Nope, I used my iPhone which over corrects. Kind of funny about Mesa and Mess.

But, I'm honestly puzzled what has caused Mesa to go downhill so much. They are travel link partners or whatever it's called with Continental, I think, and Frontier and some others.

I wish Mesa or Mesobe ( spelling?) a former Northwest airline partner could get their acts together. We need another regional airline in the west to compete with Horizon and ScareWest. Prices would come down and maybe Horizon could live with their profit margin they were making between I F and Boise vs. what they would like it to be.

Why doesn't Frank Vandersloot or a group buy a few more planes than they already own for IF-Boise travel only? Just limit the flights to 2/day instead of 4 and the planes would be full.

BTW, PW, part of when Horizon's profits started going down is when Eastern ID had grown much more and drug reps started to be based out of Idaho Falls. Thrbdrug reps out of Boise didn't fly monthly like they had for years ( or from SLC). Not the only reason, but one of the "business travel" factors started to decline Horizon's profitability between Boise and Idaho Falls, plus the bigger planes flying four times/ day.

Has anyone taken the plane the Wendover flight?
