Would any residents of IF care to post or link to photos (perhaps picasa or flickr albums) they've taken of snowfall during an average winter, or an extreme winter?
Actually that isn't much. Winter of '08, '09 and '11 were what we'd call "decent" Meaning we got some I know for a fact that it has been known to snow anywhere from Oct to June. Snowed on June 11 in '08. That sticks out because mom passed in Feb and 6/11 is her birthday, she always had a sense of humor
Including a few more pictures for you taken in any time between Dec 2010 and April 2011
Just trying to picture myself there. I lived in Florida, southern calif, Las Vegas so never lived in snow. But I did drive cross country in February and saw quite a bit of snow in Utah, Colorado, etc. Aside from the driving, the snow and cold wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. For a while I was dead against leaving the warmth of LV. But we just had this heatwave last week, up to 116 degrees and it's just too much now. I think I'm ready for colder weather!

I grew up in Central California and spent a few weeks during some summers in Wichita, KS. Having said that, I will take the distinct four seasons over the heat and twisters. Although ironically we dd have a tornado rip through on Valentine's Day in 2000... yep February go figure.
We're planning on coming up to explore Idaho in the next few weeks hopefully! Drove through Kansas, entirely too flat for me. I can't imagine living there!
SLC is definitely out of the running after I did extensive research on the terrible air quality there due to a number of factors including intense mining operations, number of people, topography of the land. The only possibility that I can see is a place called Heber City which is about 20 miles south of Park City, and you're basically in the mountains, at a higher elevation where the air pollution doesn't seem to be as bad. But I think Idaho is probably still a better bet. I don't want to live in another densely populated city again and I want to get as far away from the southern border of this country as possible without becoming an eskimo
