Has there ever been discussion about a legit university in Idaho Falls? Something along the lines of a UofI campus (I'm not talking about a building that offers a few UofI classes -- talking about an actual campus with dorms and lecture halls and dining halls and sports teams and those things).

Is it still true that Idaho Falls is the largest city in America without a traditional college/university?

Yes and yes. Check the search feature for versions of this.

It will be private universities who continue to meet specific needs. Stevens Henager is expanding their offerings again, given local needs. They aren't one to blow off, given their success and growth in UT.

U. of I. caters to INL, thus the night classes. What was recently announced was the combined programs BYU-Idaho is going to start with the U. of I. I'm happy to see this.

Students don't have to be LDS to attend BYU; however, they do have to keep the Honor Code, since it is a private University. . If one doesn't live on campus at BYU-I that is much easier to do. Check out more about BYU-I so you know more what they offer from classes to concerts.

Three private Universities have different options for students locally. I'd like to see U. of I. be able to offer more but that all got hammered out years ago when U. Place was built and ISU decided to offer classes in Idaho Falls. Many students can remain in Idaho Falls and get most of their classes. Commuter buses run daily to ISU in Poky. ISU also has some joint programs with EITC.

Pull up the old threads for more hx.. Great question!
